What Is The Biggest Lie We’ve All Been Fed?

The middle is dead

It is truthfully not all it's built up to be.

Keep reading because I'm going to give a long answer to the question, "What is the biggest lie we've all been fed?"

So stay with me, Okay?

People still believe they can reach for the stars, but they are increasingly fearful they are standing on a trapdoor as they try.

I've heard it said, and you may have heard this yourself, that, "the middle class today enjoys less opportunity, job security, and disposable income than earlier generations did."

In a 2013 article written in The Atlantic magazine by Ronald Browstein titled, "Meet the New Middle Class: Who They Are, What They Want, and What They Fear", a survey suggested...

"That after years of economic turmoil, most families now believe the most valuable--and elusive--possession in American life isn't any tangible acquisition, such as a house or a car, but rather economic security."

As noted in the same article, people were asked to define what it means to be middle class... a solid 54 percent majority of respondents picked, "having the ability to keep up with expenses and hold a steady job while not falling behind or taking on too much debt"; a smaller percentage defined it in terms of, "getting ahead and accumulating savings."

How do you keep your head above water then, when as one survey respondent noted, "It seems like that class of the people just live from paycheck to paycheck. Everything is going up, but wages are staying the same. And people can't live like that."

Life is complicated enough... Don't make your business complicated too!

economic security is huge issue for people

I recently had a conversation with a gentleman from Australia who says, "I'm working my butt off... 12-14 hours a day, 6 days a week and still can't make ends meet because of the high cost living here in Australia. So many of my friends have lost their jobs, so I feel like I could lose my job anytime!"

This is real stuff, my friend... Where do you fit in to all of this?

So for people in the "Middle Class", it all comes down to economic security. With that being the issue then, it would seem that people of the middle class would want to do something to ensure and solidify their own economic security.

Along with that add in their desire to, "keep up with expenses", and, "hold a steady job..."

Are these things that concern you, too?

So the college education, buying a home, the 401k's and a "steady" job...  well they haven't seemed to solve the problem for those in the middle class of shaky economic security and questionable job security.

Told ya I was going be truthful with you!

Just look around. Look at your friends, look at your neighbors... Look at yourself.

74% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Are you in the 74%?
